Climate Action 100+, an investor coalition representing over $70 trillion in assets, targets major emitters including mining and agricultural giants. Engagement priorities include science-based targets, deforestation-free supply chains, and just transition planning for workers and communities.

Shareholder resolutions on plastic pollution, pesticide use, and water stewardship have gained traction at annual general meetings of companies such as Bayer, Corteva, and Anglo American. While not all resolutions pass, they signal investor expectations and catalyze management responses.

Risk Management: Physical, Transition, and Liability Risks

ESG integration helps investors manage three categories of climate-related risk. Physical risks—droughts, floods, heatwaves—directly impact agricultural yields and mining operations. Transition risks—policy changes, technological shifts, market preferences—affect asset valuations.
